This is a quote that sums up the title of this book: Dignity and Health: the Science of Human Beings. The idea is that our bodies are what we make them to be, and if we have been making them that way, then we should be able to make them be what they were made to be. The question is, “what is dignity?” The book goes into what dignity is and how it is different from health.
Dignity is a way of life that allows us to identify with what we love by giving it value and respect. Dignity is the quality of being an active and self-aware being, a being of self-esteem and self-respect. It is the state of being able to identify with love and the desire to be happy. Dignity is a state of being able to take pleasure in anything and everything that doesn’t involve harming others.
Dignity is the state of being able to take pleasure in anything and everything that doesnt involve harming others. We all know that when we take pleasure in something that hurts others we are taking away from them. In the same way, we all know that when we take pleasure in something that our loved ones value, we are taking away from them. We all know that when we take pleasure in something that takes away from them, we are taking away from them.
Dignity is also the state where we realize that we all have the same wants and needs of the greater good. For example, when we take pleasure in something that we are a part of, we tend to value it as a good thing by a wide margin. By contrast, when we take pleasure in something that we are not a part of, we value it less.
So let’s put this another way. We all want to be healthy, right? But when you have a problem you feel you have no control over, your body tells you that nothing you do is going to fix it. But you want to be treated as if you were actually sick, so you keep doing the same things that make you sick.
I have a friend who has a chronic illness that is not curable. He has been unable to have children. He doesn’t think that he will be able to have kids in the near future. He and his wife are both afraid that he will not be able to be around for them if he doesn’t get treatment.
We can’t really help him because we don’t see patients like this. And the only treatment we can offer is one that is in the hands of the doctors and the system. But for a few of us, we can help him stay healthy. This is the power of the Internet.
The Web site Dignity Health has a searchable database of disease, symptoms, cures, and treatments for a few hundred conditions. And it’s not a charity either. We’re not asking for charity when we’re helping a man in a chronic condition to stay healthy. We’re taking a more direct approach to the problem. We are not asking you to donate money to buy a kidney. We are not asking for a kidney. We are offering a kidney.
We are only asking that you buy a kidney and not have one transplanted into your body. That is the most important step. Without a donor, you won’t be able to survive. You won’t be able to be cured. You won’t be able to prevent another chronic condition. You won’t be able to prevent another disease. A kidney transplant is not a miracle cure. It cannot cure an acute condition or cure a chronic condition.
To be a donor you have to be willing to do a lot of things that are not your habits. Most importantly, you have to be willing to donate blood, which is the process by which you give your body a new blood type. You have to be willing to donate a kidney. You have to be willing to donate a skin sample to be tested for diseases. These are things you may not have been willing to do.
