Behavioral health is a term that has been used for a long time, but it’s only in the last decade that we started to see it applied to all aspects of our lives. It’s particularly important for those of us whose lives might not have been as smooth as we’d like them to be. As a result, we’ve come to think of it as a catch-all term for all those things we feel guilty about or struggle with.
Behavioral health is not a universal concept. To be sure, some behaviors are more likely to be helped by medication (i.e., smoking or drink), others are likely to be helped by treatment (i.e., a new pair of shoes or a new job), and some behaviors can be helped by self-help and support groups (i.e., learning a new language or growing out of a particular addiction).
While there are many behavioral health services in the world, the health care system in the United States is built on the idea that if you pay more money for a service, you will get better care. And in most cases, that is true. But there are lots of behaviors that would be much better treated with a little more knowledge and understanding about what behaviors are healthy for you, and which ones are not. This is especially true for people trying to find support groups and help with substance use.
The health care system in the United States relies on some pretty broad definitions of what behaviors are okay and unhealthy for you. Some behaviors are generally considered healthy and some aren’t. What people do wrong is often thought of as “bad”. In some cases, that may be true, but in other cases, it may not be.
osf behavioral health is all about helping people to realize that they need help. Our goal in osf behavioral health is to help people to better understand their behaviors, the effects of their behaviors, and how to change them. Our members are encouraged to ask questions about their behavior, and to join in conversations with other members of the community.
As you might imagine, osf behavioral health is a lot like a community. We try to make sure every member is welcome and feels comfortable. It is also important for osf to be a safe place for members to share ideas, ask questions, and contribute to the discussion.
The first thing we did when we launched osf behavioral health was to create an online forum and a few pages that are now available to all of our members. The first thing you can do is to join osf and create a profile. We also have a section on osf for members to send email to other members with questions. If that doesn’t sound familiar, you might be the one who didn’t register or join osf for a while, and it’s okay.
